Metal Sheds for Sale

Most people don’t realize they need more storage until they have already run out of it. The garage is full, the basement has no room left and somehow there’s always more stuff ending up in the corner.

A metal shed gives you the extra space you actually need without taking over your home. And unlike wood sheds that can rot, warp and need regular painting, a steel shed is built to handle the weather with much less maintenance.

At American Metal Garages, these aren’t the sheds you pick up at a hardware store. Our metal sheds are fully enclosed steel structures, professionally delivered and installed on your property. You choose the size, roof style, doors, windows, and layout, we take care of the rest. Delivery and installation is free!

What Kind of Metal Shed Do You Need?

A shed means different things to different people. Some buyers need a clean, organized space for garden tools and lawn equipment. Others need a proper car shed for a vehicle they want protected year-round. And some just need a large, secure structure to store everything that doesn’t fit anywhere else.
Here is how most buyers use our metal sheds:

Car Sheds

A car shed is a fully enclosed steel structure built to protect one or more vehicles, whether that’s a daily driver you want out of the weather, a classic car you’re restoring, or a work truck that needs secure overnight storage. Car sheds keep your vehicle protected from hail, sun, rain and anyone who shouldn’t be near it.

Garden Sheds

If you’re tired of tools scattered across the garage and nowhere to store the lawnmower properly, a garden shed fixes that. A steel garden shed gives you a clean, dry, organized space for everything related to your yard, tools, fertilizer, seasonal equipment, and more. Steel doesn’t attract pests, doesn’t trap moisture the way wood does, and doesn’t need repainting when the seasons change.

Outdoor Storage Sheds

Some buyers don’t need a specific category, they just need space. An outdoor storage shed is the most flexible option. Use it for seasonal items, sports equipment, overflow from the garage, hobby supplies or anything else that needs a permanent, protected home outside the main house.

Metal Shed vs. Wood Shed. What's the Difference?

Wood sheds can look great, but they need more upkeep than you might expect. You may need to repaint or stain them, check for rot, deal with pests and replace boards that warp or crack. Over time… weather can take a toll on the wood.

Steel sheds are much easier to maintain. They don’t rot or attract termites and other wood-damaging pests. All our steel sheds are built using galvanized steel which also helps protect against rust and corrosion. So the maintenance is simple, give it a wash now and then and check for any scratches or damage.

A quality metal shed can cost about the same as a quality wood shed upfront. The big difference is what you’ll spend on maintenance over the years… with steel, there’s much less to worry about.

Customize Your Metal Shed

Every metal shed we build is configured to order. There is no standard setup you’re forced to accept. When you call us, you’re making decisions about how the building looks and works for you.
    • Size – width, length and wall height based on your property and what you’re storing
    • Roof style – regular, A-frame or vertical depending on your preference and local weather
    • Doors – roll-up doors for vehicles and equipment, walk-in doors for daily access
    • Windows – natural light and ventilation where you want it
    • Colors – panels, roof, and trim in your choice from our full color range
    • Steel gauge – 12-gauge or 14-gauge framing depending on your build requirements
    • Insulation – if you’re using the shed regularly or storing temperature-sensitive items
    • Lean-to – additional covered space alongside the main structure

Not sure what combination you need? Call us and we’ll help you work through it.

Frequently Asked Questions About Metal Sheds

Are your metal sheds the same as shed kits from a hardware store?

No. Our metal sheds are fully enclosed, permanently installed steel structures built from galvanized steel framing and sheeting, not the flat-pack kit sheds sold at hardware stores. They are professionally delivered and installed on your property by our team.

How long will a metal shed last?

With proper installation and basic maintenance, a steel shed can last for 20+ years. If maintained properly it can last generations.

Do I need a permit for a metal shed?

Yes, permit is required. However, permit requirements vary by county and by the size of the building. We can provide engineer-certified drawings, which most counties require as part of the permit application. Check with your local building department before ordering. See Certification Requirements for more detail.

What foundation do I need?

A concrete slab is the most reliable option for a metal shed. It gives you a level, durable surface and the best long-term structural stability. For most standard sheds, a 4-inch reinforced slab is sufficient. If you're storing vehicles or heavy equipment, a 6-inch slab is more appropriate.

How long does installation take?

Most metal sheds are installed within 4 to 6 weeks of ordering, once your site is ready and permits are in hand. Installation itself takes 1 to 3 days depending on the size of the building.
